21 – 25 November 2011 is National Flea Week! Show your support and appreciation for your pets by joining other South African pet owners in conducting your own Flea Pet Checks during the first National Flea Week in South Africa, which will take place during the week of 21-25 November 2011 This pet friendly initiative, supported by Merial, manufacturers of FRONTLINE® and FRONTLINE® Plus, aims to raise awareness of the unnecessary suffering pets experience when riddled with fleas, and to ensure the well-being of their pets and to keep their families safe from flea or tick-borne illnesses and diseases.
Pet owners are advised to :
- conduct regular flea checks;
- apply a registered flea and tick treatment every 4-6 weeks;
- use products that work on both the adult fleas as well as flea eggs, larvae and pupae;
- do regular housekeeping to keep homes flea free;
- visit a vet who can recommend an effective and gentle tick and flea product if pets are already suffering due to a tick or flea infestation.
